The autoconversion is harmless. Quoted Printable is a lossless encoding
designed to get email through 7-bit gateways; when the software detects that
the gateway is actually 8-bit-safe, it decodes it since the 8-bit version
takes up less bandwidth. Whatever's going on, I'm sure that conversion
isn't the cause.
