Quite right. |grs| is still plausible, though. I suspect that's a rare
enough case that I can live with it.

I'm thinking about making the sandhi rules more complex, but doing so
always leads to a need to enlarge the orthography, and potentially the
phoneme set. I think I like the simplicity of the frontwards rule, though
I might throw in some exceptions to the by-the-book notion of frontedness,
for instance calling apical sounds more "fronted" than laminal sounds in
all cases.
