I just checked that out of the library today, but I haven't had a chance to
look at it yet. I've heard others on the list recommend it.
If you're looking for something specifically on verbs, I also checked out
Dahl's "Tense and Aspect Systems", which looks interesting (from the 3
pages I've read so far), but a bit too scholarly and not targeted at the
general reader. In the Preface though, it recomends as an introductory
text:
Aspect.
An introduction to the study of
verbal aspect and related problems
by Bernard Comrie
I actually would have checked that out instead, but it wasn't on the shelf
(despite the Computer catalog which read "NOT CHECKED OUT").
