Then there is the famous answer God gives to Moses in the Book of
Exodus (3:14) in the episode of the burning bush: I am who am. The
Hebrew literally means "I am what/who I am." (Shades of Popeye: I yam
what I yam!)
I have no proof, but I can't believe that any translation would ever
dare translate the Hebrew as "I am who is."
