I agree. When Robert Beltran was cast as Chakotay on _Star Trek: Voyager_,
there were complaints that a Native American should have been cast, as the
character, though born off-Earth, is of that ethnic origin.
Beltran pointed out that like most Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, he
*is* partly of indigenous origin.
