Here are some words from English which add -ally (< -al -ly) directly to the stem without an intermediate form in -al. Interestingly, all of these forms end in -ic, but it is not the case that a form in -ic must add -ally directly--fundamental, logical, musical, etc. (I snarfed these from the English Lexicon Project.) acrobatically {acrobat}>ic>>ally> alcoholically {alcohol}>ic>>ally> algebraically {algebra}>ic>>ally> altruistically {altru--ist}>ic>>ally> angelically {angel}>ic>>ally> antagonistically {antagon--ist}>ic>>ally> aristocratically {aristo--crat}>ic>>ally> aromatically {aroma}>tic>>ally> artistically {art}>ist>>ic>>ally> asthmatically {asthma}>tic>>ally> asymptotically {asymptote}>ic>>ally> atheistically {a--the--ist}>ic>>ally> atomically {atom}>ic>>ally> autocratically {auto--crat}>ic>>ally> axiomatically {axiom}>atic>>ally> basically {base}>ic>>ally> bureaucratically {bureau--crat}>ic>>ally> characteristically {character}>istic>>ally> chauvinistically {chauvin--ist}>ic>>ally> cherubically {cherub}>ic>>ally> climatically {climate}>ic>>ally> cryptically {crypt}>ic>>ally> cyclically {cycle}>ic>>ally> democratically {demo--crat}>ic>>ally> despotically {despot}>ic>>ally> dogmatically {dogma}>tic>>ally> dramatically {drama}>tic>>ally> egoistically {ego}>ist>>ic>>ally> egotistically {ego}>tist>>ic>>ally> electronically {electr--on}>ic>>ally> emblematically {emblem}>atic>>ally> enigmatically {enigma}>tic>>ally> enthusiastically {enthus--iast}>ic>>ally> epigrammatically {epi--gram}>atic>>ally> eulogistically {eu--log--ist}>ic>>ally> euphemistically {eu--phem--ist}>ic>>ally> futuristically {future}>ist>>ic>>ally> heroically {hero}>ic>>ally> homoeopathically {homoeo--path}>ic>>ally> honorifically {honor}>ific>>ally> hygienically {hygiene}>ic>>ally> idealistically {ideal}>ist>>ic>>ally> idiomatically {idiom}>atic>>ally> idiotically {idiot}>ic>>ally> idyllically {idyll}>ic>>ally> imperialistically {imperi--al}>ist>>ic>>ally> impressionistically {im--press}>ion>>ist>>ic>>ally> inartistically <in<{art}>ist>>ic>>ally> journalistically {journ--al}>ist>>ic>>ally> linguistically {lingu--ist}>ic>>ally> logarithmically {logarithm}>ic>>ally> magnetically {magnet}>ic>>ally> materialistically {material}>ist>>ic>>ally> mechanistically {mechan--ist}>ic>>ally> melodramatically {melo--drama}>tic>>ally> meteorically {meteor}>ic>>ally> microscopically {micro--scope}>ic>>ally> misanthropically {mis--anthrope}>ic>>ally> monolithically {mono--lith}>ic>>ally> monopolistically {mono--pol--ist}>ic>>ally> moralistically {morale}>ist>>ic>>ally> moronically {moron}>ic>>ally> narcissistically {narciss--ist}>ic>>ally> nationalistically {nation}>al>>ist>>ic>>ally> naturalistically {natur--al}>ist>>ic>>ally> nomadically {nomad}>ic>>ally> optimistically {optim--isit}>ic>>ally> paradigmatically {paradigm}>atic>>ally> parasitically {parasite}>ic>>ally> patriotically {patri--ot}>ic>>ally> pedantically {pedant}>ic>>ally> pessimistically {pessim--ist}>ic>>ally> philanthropically {phil--anthrope}>ic>>ally> phonemically {phon--eme}>ic>>ally> piratically {pir--ate}>ic>>ally> poetically {poet}>ic>>ally> pontifically {pontiff}>ic>>ally> problematically {problem}>atic>>ally> prophetically {pro--phet}>ic>>ally> psychopathically {psycho--path}>ic>>ally> realistically {real}>ist>>ic>>ally> rhythmically {rhythm}>ic>>ally> ritualistically {ritual}>ist>>ic>>ally> sadistically {sad--ist}>ic>>ally> scenically {scene}>ic>>ally> schematically {scheme}>atic>>ally> stylistically {style}>ist>>ic>>ally> symbolically {symbol}>ic>>ally> symptomatically {symptom}>atic>>ally> systematically {system}>atic>>ally> traumatically {trauma}>tic>>ally> unrealistically <un<{real}>ist>>ic>>ally> voyeuristically {voyeur}>ist>>ic>>ally>
