Speaking of which: "archaicly"??? I don't think I've ever seen "archaically"
(though I see Spell Checker disliked "archaicly".)

"Psychological" too. I'm glad to see others noticed these and others (and
Dirk allowed for it in his original post); I was afraid it might have been
peculiarities of my own usage :-))) --like misspelling "lizzard" and
"diminuitive" all my life until 1975, when they were pointed out in my
doctoral diss. :-(((
Would it be significant that all the words are non-native, even learnèd in
most cases? Is it possible the -al derivatives once existed, but now only
survive in the -ly form? Why should there be a constraint against
adding -ly directly to the -ic form???? (Of course in most cases, they're
pronounced as if it were-- [Enig'm&tIkli] [fono'ladZIkli] etc.)
