hi !
well a semicolon is a softer connection between sentences than a
fullstop is.
analog to this the "and" is used as an even softer connection than the
semicolon.
i think the "and" is somewhat overused and overburdened in language.

a solution could be to separate the sentence-connector-"and" from the
accumulation-"and" ,like "add milk and1 water, and2 stir occasionally"

"and1" connects two meanings, treated together, in this context both
belonging to the verb "add".
"add milk and add water" is abbreviated to "add milk and1 water"

"and2" connects phrases, sentences, parts, which arent bound to a
pivot-verb.

example a)
"i go to cinema and1 to supermarket" <- go is pivot-verb, therefor
its and1

example b)
"i go to cinema and2 watch tv" <- no verb in common for both connected
parts of sentence.

example c)
"john and1 paul are both cleaning the house." <- cleaning is
pivot-verb, therefore and1

example d)
"its a nice and1 lovely kiss and2 i like it much"<- and1 because of
the pivot-verb "is". and2 got no pivot.

regards,
c.s.
