i think arabic uses that kind of syntactic to mark aspect.
and as another me-too line : in my first conlang i had first different nword=

for things "in the past" and "at present/in the future" :
geihh : fire (from now on - hh is bilabial japanese f in "fuyu")
pir : fire (then - r is dutch g in "geen")
ak : me (from now on)
de : me (then)
so i had two languages depending whether i spoke of past or present-future. =
i=20
could mix both when speaking now of something in the past or reversely,=20
depending whether i felt the actors and actions still unchanged or now=20
different. intransitive was SV and transitive was VSO :
ak kteip : i see
kteip ak gur : i see the animal
de kit : i saw
kit de nli : i saw the animal
