No, but hence is alive and well in academese; hither in "hither and yon" and
the famous "come-hither" look-- but I'm dating myself, as those are somewhat
obsolescent.
The post that went to Scott also contained this, which might be of interest:
Interesting thing about go/come, and bring/take (which latter seems to
confuse native speakers and learners alike) and perhaps others: they depend
on the speaker's point of view or location. Some languages, e.g.
Indonesian, use the same word for bring/take; do any use the same word for
go/come? Conlangs?
Consider also: go in, come in = enter; go out, come out = exit; go up/down,
come up/down = ascend/descend. Just random thoughts......
