I must say I love this name Estéban! I think the French equivalent is Stéphane /ste'fan/ which is also a very beautiful name. Strangely enough, I never had those renaming attempts in foreign language classes. Well, the first one who calls me Christopher will suffer for the rest of his/her life :) , but I could have got used to Cristobal. In fact, I find Christophe international enough, let's not change it and let's keep a little French in it :) (after all, even my last name is a valid English word! :) ).
