My Uto-Aztecan collection is packed up in preparation for my move
to Montana but I hope this helps. There is a relatively inexpensive
grammar of Western Shoshone. This is from Amazon.com,
Western Shoshoni Grammar
by Beverly Crum, Jon P. Dayley
Our Price: $24.95
Paperback (October 1993)
Boise State University: Dept. of Anthropology;
ISBN: 0963974904
Availability: This title usually ships within 4-6
weeks. Please note
that titles occasionally go out of print or
publishers run out of stock.
We will notify you within 2-3 weeks if we have
trouble obtaining this
title.
There is a recent companion volume to this dealing with texts. There
are several others, one that is out of print if I recall is Wick
Miller's "Newe Natekwinappeh" which includes a brief grammatical sketch
and a short dictionary. I found a copy very easily on the used book
market. Also, the U. of California Press has published several volumes
as well, but the reasonable price limitation does not apply. I am
sure Dirk can think of others, I believe he is our only resident
Numicist!
On the other hand, don't buy Vocabulary of the Shoshone Language" by
George Hill, no lg materials are in it.
