The only head of state in the world who is currently referred to as an
Emperor (Nihon no Tenno) is never referred to by his name during his reign.
In his lifetime he is called simply "His Majesty the Emperor" (Tenno heika,
and posthumously his regnal title. The late "Emperor Hirohito" is now
referred to as Shouwa Tennou, and the current emperor will be known
posthumously as Heisei Tennou.
