There's at least one thing the Mormons had produced that I wish we all could
use -- Deseret alphabet! The Shakers have furniture, the Oneida community
has silverware, Scientology has Hollywood ;)
Also, don't forget that there are different denimonations and movements
within the LDS Church -- the mainliners of SLC, the Nauvoo, Illinois-based
group, and even a "fundamentalist" group that actually practices or at least
promotes polygamy.
(There is nothing in the Bible that really forbids polygamy, except that one
mention of "husband of one wife" given in 1 Timothy and Titus, but as a
requirement for bishops and deacons. In fact, the OT does prescribe levirate
marriages. Still, I'm about to get married, and I don't imagine myself
tossing around two or more "old ladies"...)
