doubling long vowels is handy when glottal stop keeps being marked.
my former conlang evolved in a similar way :
at > ad > aa
as> az > ay > aa
ash > azh > aa
ap > ab > av > aw > aa
ak > ag > a? > aa
ag > ar > ah > aa
all words were monosyllabic so they ended up sounding all the same except fo=
r=20
the ones ending in -n and -m, so i shifted to tunu's 2-syllable morphy :
tun > tunu
tum > tumu
nu > numi
ak > kana
man > mani
etc.
now i double long vowels. it's handy and easier to read than diacritics.=20
