Similar, to be sure, since modern western letter
forms are descended from medieval Latin letter
forms. Big capital letter inscriptions are easy
enough to read (though not necessarily to
decipher!); hand written texts are very hard to
deal with. I've seen a few metal tablets written
in Latin (one I think was in the Prado -
somewhere in Madrid, anyway) and I couldn't read
it. And it wasn't due to corrosion or wear,
either. The letters were just not familliar. So I
think it's not too far from reality to say that
Latin isn't taught in its own script.
