Well I mostly create scripts ("conscripts"?....erm...dosen't sound quite
right does it?), and yep, I make fonts for them (on an old PCW using
MicroDesign3 and Font Designer) and write out texts on the computer -
usually copies of passages from LOTR or local newspaper articles. For me
this tests the printed-page orthogaphy.

However, I as the scripts I create are created with pen/pencil/brush/paper,
I practice with them all the time by doing everyday things like post-it
notes, diary writing, shopping lists, and bi-script addresses on envelopes.
These notes refine the writing style(s), discover impracticalities, and test
the every day functionality of the script.

Sometimes when I'm working on an ancient Egyptian translation I'll
transliterate into the standard latin but produce the pronounceable Egyptian
and English translation in one of my scripts. Which tests the academic
functionality.

Once I'd spent almost all day using Nova Scriptio, and without realizing it
had signed off a credit card receipt in Nova Scripto! The counter girl
looked at it for a moment then handed it back saying "you've signed this in
your native language, could you do it again in English and initial your
first signature please?"

I complied, but I was too embarrassed to ask where she thought I was from
;-)
