As a matter of fact, the quote is already quite old (I think it was Oscar Wilde
or someone like that), and it wasn't about nuclear war, but about The End Of
The World: "If the world is going to end, I'll escape to Holland etc."
In those days (pre-WWII, the fifties), Holland was both culturally and socially
a very conservative (and slightly backward) country.
