ahah! a thought! I was just answering something else and realized there's a
word that has two forms in modern Japanese:
atatakai/attakai. It's the adjective "is warm" (its other forms follow the
same pattern).
so interestingly, in a repeating situation, tata can contract to tta. maybe
this has something to do with the use of the t-row u character?
