JRR Tolkien was part of it, but having a father who was a German/Russian linguists
for his SF unit helped some.
Also beeing around people who spoke various languages, but I was not good with
learning the spoken, even if I get tones and such from one time contact.. Like
the time I got how an Inupiaq eskimo buddy said his last name, said it just how
he said it. But retention is a problem. Got into Paleographics first actually..
The atudy of ancient scripts, and how to decipher the lingo they represented..
