I have some difficulty with Simik (Zirienka) because it has high and low
rising tones as well as high and low falling tones, and any of these can be
on long or short vowels. I use the United States - International keyboard
to create the accent marks. In ASCII, I usually use numbers for the tones.
short long
1. (acute) high rising 5. (same diacritics as the short tones,
2. (circumflex) high falling 6. but with a colon after the vowel)
3. (no mark) low rising 7.
4. (grave) low falling 8.
The Zirien script itself has separate letters for high, medium, and low
tones; the Classical Tenai language only needed those three tones.
Combinations of tone letters are used to represent the various tones of
Simik.
