I was just wondering about different ways to refer to relatives in
different languages (artificial or natural). There seems to be a lot of
different ways to do it in natural languages. Most distingish by sex,
some others also by age. Chinese has different words for "older
brother" and "younger brother" for example. In Swedish it's not just
"grandfather" but "farfar" (father's father" or "morfar" (mother's
father.

So how would you say ... ?

lacks specific words for parent and grandparent

	father = "fæðirr" or "æpi"
	mother = "moðra"
	step-father = "fæðirr" only
	step-mother = "moðra"

	grandfather = "æfi"
	grandmother = "ama"

	great-(...)grandfather = "apafæðirr" = "grandfather's father"
then it goes into things like "férandfæðirr" = "fourth father"
	great-(...)grandmother = "ømumoðra" same as above

	uncle = "fæðirr" only
	aunt = "moðra"

	offspring = "barn" = "child"
	son = "sønur"
	daughter = "dottra"
	step-son = "sønur"
	step-daughter = "dottra"

	grandchild = "barn"
	grandson = "senssønur" son's son or "dottrusønur" daughter's son
	granddaughter = "sensdottra" son's daughter or "dottrudottra" daughter's
daughter

	cousin = "bræðirr" only
	cousin = "søstra"

	sibling = "sebba" blood relative or "vif" female blood relative
	brother = "bræðirr" or "brædi"
	sister = "søstra"
	half-brother = "moðrusønur" or "fæðirrssønur"
	half-sister = "moðrudottra" or "fæðirrsdottra"
	step-brother = "bræðirr" only
	step-sister = "søstra"
