Re: The (necessarily anti-American, it seems) French guy salutes you and leaves

How bad, I missed something interesting, as it seems.
I was off for a few days and went nomail, in order not
to get overwhelmed with messages on my coming back.

Anyway, I don't feel concerned by the idea of being
necessarily anti-American, because French. I like to
make fun of the Americans just like of the Germans,
the English, the Russians or the French, when I find
something funny. If I knew some Martians, I would
probably make fun of them too.

I understand that some reflexions are more or less
considered as off-topic, although I try not to get too
far from language problems. For example, computer
language problems don't seem really off-topic to me,
they are related to conlangs. Methodology doesn't look
off-topic to me neither, but in case everybody finds
it has nothing to do here, ok, I won't insist.

But one thing puzzles me on forums or discussion
lists, it is the idea that everybody should always
remain very neutral and even in mind, and show
absolutely no emotions or anything of the sort at any
moment. The highest possible sign of emotion should be
an emoticon like ;-) or :-(( . This I find not very
reasonable. After all, we are supposed to be people,
no robots or programs. It's a good thing to shout a
little from time to time. For ex, I had a hard dispute
with my (real life) neighbour today, and I think we
both feel much better after it. Things had to be told,
from one part like from the other one, so they were,
and I feel more relaxed now, and so does he, I guess.
Anyway, the original problem has decreased in
strength, so it was a good day for everybody.

So, I just don't believe in the "politically correct",
and I even rather much dislike it. Just as I don't
like the idea that we should all love each other. And
I don't want anybody to kiss me without seeing at
least his (or her) picture before.

This was all clearly off-topic, so I won't go any
further there. But I felt like saying it, so I won't
ask anybody to forgive me for it.

Have a good day.
