Of course it is. Filipinos just dont accent the "I" when they write it
(BTW: It turns out both of my grandparents have quite a bit of Spanish
blood. My grandmother is 1/4th Spanish).
Anyway, i did a search on the name, and the one site i did find anything
in says it means either "spear, or firm"
