Thank you, John; at least that answers one question. My computer recently
acted up and had to go in for an adjustment; I suspect some settings were
inadvertently (?) changed... (There is so much cat fur floating around my
house that one wag suggested the computer had a hair-ball).
Of the 3 possible setting in MS Outlook (UTF8, UTF7, Western), UTF 7 is the
only one that produces weirdness-free material on MY screen. I'll call the
good people at my ISP's help line and see about straightening this out.
(This is in Western. I think.)
