Multi-User Dimension - a place where multiple people can connect and
interact online, typically text-based.

A little like MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing games)
such as Asheron's Call or Everquest, only typically less massively
multiplayer (dozens, rather than thousands, of players) and without
the graphics - but often with adventures, bartering, skills,
interplayer communication, quests, etc.
