Probably - if you accomodate (focus on near objects) too much you can
actually give yourself myopia (or something, I can't remember what for
sure).  Perscriptions for eyeglasses apparently skyrocket around college age
when all those freshmen suddenly start reading a whole lot more than they
used to (esp. the fine print in those darn tome-like science text books).
