The download causes 125 bytes of traffic, and produces a file of zero
bytes in size. I'd expect this: an HTTP download has about 125 bytes of
"handshaking" overhead.

Can you check the file on the webserver, and make sure it's what you think
it is? I think the actual file on the server has been truncated.
