In the United States, speed limits are set by the individual
states. In most of the eastern states, the limit on the expressways
is 65 mph, while in most of the less populated central and
western states, the limit is 75 mph. In Michigan, my state, the limit
is 70 mph.
My average was probably close to 70 mph, given some time off
for eating and refueling, and the fact that I had to go through a
construction zone in Illinois. :-)
