LotR Movie [was Elves and pointy ears]

New Line Films has set aside $150m to film "The Lord of the Rings" as
three movies, back to back, to be released within 6 months of each
other, starting next summer (I believe), with "The Fellowship of the
Ring", then December for "The Two Towers," and summer 2001 for "Return
of the King." Seems whats-his-name, the young punk president of New Line
is a Tolkien fan.

It is being directed by Peter Jackson, who's credits include both art
house ("Heavenly Creatures") and self-aware genre ("Evil Dead").

Cast members (off the top of my head) include:

Elijah Wood - Frodo
Ian McKellan - Gandalf (also signed to play Magneto in the upcoming
X-Men movie)
I think Cate Blanchett for one of the elves.
