OT: Married with children (Was: Another new project...)

I was going to ask "why would mariage be a prerequisite to having children".
Then i realized that, appart from the possible moral point of view, some
countries would actualy not allow you to have children without mariage. I guess
most european countries allows you to do as you want, but i don't know for
other countries. Anyone has information about that?
