Ben,
When I started playing around with this stuff almost 20 years ago,
thanks to a really interesting, but linguistically poor, article in a
gaming magazine, I got no encouragement from anyone. What's more, there
wasn't anyplace, that I knew of, to talk to people and get help. At the
time, I didn't even know what linguistics was! In the intervening
years, I've learned a few things:
1) I'm an idiot
2) I'm often a jackass
3) I have no talent for linguistics at all
4) None of that should keep me from having fun trying to make languages
anyway.
I just wanted Afian to feel like it was okay to work in whatever
creative way felt comfortable. I always find it interesting to see how
other people approach problems that I've either dealt with or may in the
future. Seeing someone else's thought process always provides insight
into my own, if I pay attention to it.
And, I was a bit under the weather yesterday, so I'm afraid the mild
fever may have added a bit of fervor to my response. I apologize if I
was a bit blowhard myself.
Thanks,
Jim
