Merhaba!
OK, this is the system I've come up with.
[begin quote (of grammar)]
Converses
These are formed with the preposition meo:
kai 'parent' -> meo kai 'child'
ela e bamaka '(medical) doctor' -> meo ela e bamaka 'patient'
Compare the sentences 'I own the book' and 'The book belongs to me'. The latter has
emphasis alteration. In the first sentence, the agent ('I') is being
emphasized. In the second sentence, however, the patient ('book') is being
emphasized. Thus, the word 'belongs' in the second sentence is equal to 'is
owned by' in 'The book is owned by me'. In Kel, this emphasis shift is marked
explicitly:
kani mbo keatu
with I book
'I own the book'
kani mbo keatu ma
with I book [emphasis particle]
'The book belongs to me'
[end quote]
