Hm, "rhotic" or "rhotacized" are AFAICT they same as "retroflexive" in this
context. The former are probably more common in descriptions of English
vowels, so I should probably used that ...
The IPA sign is an up-side-down e with a kind of hook, so we're probably
thinking of the same sound at least.
