Hi, Dan. My scheme of choice is X-SAMPA, an extension of SAMPA. You can see
it at http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/sampa/x-sampa.htm. Most people seem to
use either Kirschenbaum or SAMPA, or sometimes a combination of the two
because neither system has symbols for everything; however, X-SAMPA is a
good solution to combining systems because it has a lot more symbols than
the original SAMPA. If you're interested in the other systems, go to the
original SAMPA site at http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/sampa/home.htm and Don
Blaheta's page at http://www.cs.brown.edu/people/dpb/ascii-ipa.html.
