An english j is not one sound, it is a combination of two sounds, d and what english writes as zh (Z). French uses j to represent the sound english writes zh (Z). Try saying d and zh very quickly one after the other til they merge together and you'll have an english j. An english ch is t + sh (tS) the same but unvoiced.>> In French, it's the vowel [i] or the consonant [j]. In English, it >> has the >> consonant value [j] as well, and as a vowel functions as English I, >> having >> the sounds [I], [i:] and [AI)]. > > > If y can be pronounced [j] though, how is j pronounced? > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* > http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail >
