We do already. They are the true masters of the world, they've been
observing our development with interest and slight alarm for the past
few millions of years. Soon they will have completed their human
extermination system in vengeance for those who eat octopi. :-)
But seriously, I've heard all that, I've heard them called the primates
of the sea. Interesting thought. But, how would sentient marine
creatures have much technology? They couldn't have any fire to smelt
metals, for instance.
