Also, let's keep clear the distinction between
1. VELAR "l" (X-Sampa [L\]; small-caps L in IPA) which doesn't exist in
English, to my knowledge (now I'll find out that some dialect
does.......),
and
2. velarIZED ALVEOLAR "l" (X-Sampa 5; <l> with a tilde through it in
IPA), which is the English "dark l", probably what is meant by "/l/ as
in milk", since it usually appears in coda positions.
