On that side of the Pond, perhaps, but over here [i] is nigh-universal among
the Beautiful People. :) Of course, we also have lects that go the other
way from [I] and turn it into [E], and at that point you're well on your way
to [-aj], as in "Respect my authori-tye!" :)
