I was just reading another paper[1] on Tagalog by Nikolaus Himmelmann,
and the second sentence of his introduction is "Since then, quite a
few grammars have been published, including the perhaps finest piece
of American Structuralist grammar writing, Bloomfield's (1917)
_Tagalog Texts with Grammatical Analysis_". So he likes it, at
least.
