But IME those who have never or rarely heard the Welsh (or Nuguni) pronunciation and and do not know the spelling, more often than not think the sound is a badly pronounced [s] or [S], so something suggesting the sibilant sound is another possibility. Therefore I agree with Herman that |x| is as good as any.
