- I can be incredibly inconsistant with my pronounciation of |J|. For instance, in the book _The Shelters of Stone_ by Jean M. Auel, i pronounce the |J| different in the following names: Jondalar = ['dZand@lar\] Joharran = [joha'ran] Jonayla = [ho'najla] "Jonayla" is particularly messed up because the name is supposed to be a combination of the names Jondalar and Ayla; if i were being consistent in the combination i would be pronouncing it [dZanejl@], then. But then again, i pronounce "Númenor" [num'jEnr=]. -Stephen (Steg) "Motorists leaving Brooklyn will soon encounter signs encouraging them to stay, Borough President Marty Markowitz said yesterday. 'Leaving Brooklyn, Fugheddaboudit,' the signs read. Mr. Markowitz explained, 'Once you enter Brooklyn, there's no good reason why you should ever leave.' Officials plan to place the signs at exit points on the Gowanus Expressway, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the Belt Parkway." -- the new york times, metro section, 7/22/3
