Well, if /2/ is SAMPA, it's o-slash in IPA, and thus already a vowel (close mid
front rounded, the rounded equivalent of /e/). So this very plausible shift
(after all, French schwa /@/ is pronounced much like [2]) is not comparable to
the one beginning with /x/...
