It is, indeed.
Natlangily, IIRC it's found in the Americas, and in even more extreme
cases than mere nasal assimilation.
Conlangily, my Br'ga has nasal assimilation through intervening vowels,
and i'm thinking of making the two laterals into harmony-based allophones,
too.
