As an almost-Bostonian (I grew up in the suburbs, and I don't have the
accent, though my grandmother does) I found this quite amusing. ;-)
I remember going to see the film "Good Will Hunting" in the cinema when
it came out with several friends from university. I went to uni in
Scotland, And none of the people I went with -- some Scottish, some
English -- had ever heard a Boston accent before. As we were leaving the
cinema, one of them turned to me and said "I had no idea anybody talked
like that!" :)
