This |ve| works like "eh" or if you like, Japanese "ne".

As for "have you eaten", I imagine I'll use that greeting for a culture
where food is (or *was* historically) harder to come by. Perhaps some
dialect of Rhean up north in the desert -- maybe the Ossican dialect. Not
enough work done on the Ossican dialect though; been spending too much time
on the coast.
