My own favourite example of this is my own persistent
misinterpretation of the phrase "With the birds I share" in the song
"Scar Tissue" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers as "With the Burgess
Shale".  (As far as I can tell, the lyrics make just as much sense
with my version, although it adds an emphasis on the theme of
contingency in evolution which probably wasn't there in the original.)
