Hence NHG "au(e)"? My mother lived in the "village" of Aumuehle 'watermill',
near Heringen (which in turn is near Bad Sachsa), just east of the old boundary.
I put "village" in quotes because it literally consisted of a single
isolated building, the old mill itself, which had been occupied by
her mother's family time out of mind. As her sole descendant, I suppose
I have some moral claim to this building, although I suppose the
DDR nationalized it in 1946.
