It does? I would've said the opposite: 'I'm offering the car for $2000' sounds like the kind of thing someone would say after someone had said they'll take it for $1800. Though maybe my opinion would be different if we were talking about $20 000 (new car) rather than a clearly used one (if you can find me a good new car for $2000 that hasn't fallen off the back of a truck, I'd be interested).
