I don't know that much about Islamic or Arab history, but calendars are
usually very stagnant things, from what i've seen...so i guess probably
they didn't change it. It was probably lunar (this is pure speculation)
because in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula they didn't have much use
for the solar measurements that agrarian societies need.
